Squadron Private team access - Guidelines

Postby Admin (Philstyle) » Wed Oct 07, 2015 8:05 am

General Guidelines for squads to get access to the private team-forums, Campaign Interface and (potentially) their own airfield to operate from.

Squadron airfields and access to the Campaign Interface are really intended for those squadrons who fly regularly on SoW, typically with larger numbers of pilots. Because the open airfields often (but not always) have supplies of less than 10 aircraft, having their own base enables such squadrons to regularly put together large formations of aircraft, taking off and flying together.

This means you will have to consider that having your own base will come with geographic constraints. As with everything on SoW, there is a trade-off here.

In order to be given team-access and to be posted to your own airfield, it is suggested that squadrons first conduct 25 to 50 missions from public bases in order to learn the server and develop relationships with the other squadrons in your team. In addition, squadrons with their own airfields should be looking to conduct at least 10 missions per week on average.
Those squads who are unable to commit to flying this volume of missions on SoW are of course welcome to join in and fly. The only difference is that you would operate from open bases, spawning in the same way as you would on any other server – from whichever base has aircraft and a spawn point for you.

It has been noted that there are squadrons on both sides who have their own bases, which have conducted very few sorties. Efforts are made on a regualr basis to review these squadrons, and potentially revert them back to “open” status, free-ing up their fields for more active squadrons and/or public players.

Here is the full process for squadrons to get their own airfield:
Here is what you need to do:

1. Set up your squad in the Squadrons page.
2. Get your pilots to "join" the squadron and accept their applications
3. DECLARE for the Blue or Red team
4. Make sure your pilots set their Steam names on their profiles, so their results count.
5. Get access to the Blue or Red team forums; you will need to ask for this. To do so, just post a thread in the "open squadrons" forum here:
6. Keep Flying missions. We typically only allocat airfields to squads with 25+ sorties.
7. Once you are an established Blue or Red squad you will get access to the team's forums and the Campaign Interface. Once that is done, you can request an airfield within the private team forums.
