I started watching the new BBC Drama 'The Last Post' about the RMP in Aden and there was a lovely shot in the first few minutes.

The most beautiful jet airliner ever made plus a line of one of our best cold war fighters. Heaven.

Actually I only watched it because I have always fancied the star of 'Call The Midwife' so a program that shows her as a drunk nympho was bound to catch my attention :-)

Hmmm...Concorde is pretty but it is a close call which is prettier. On the ground Concorde is a little gawky so the VC-10 would edge the win there. In the air? maybe Concorde but is close. Pre-jets it pains me not to name a British design but I love the Constellation.

Oh to have the Lightning in DCS,
my very favourite jet fighter or I should say interceptor.
Without some bears in the air though it probably wouldn't see much action.

Pre-jet? British? ... surely the design of choice is then the Short Solent.

But if you like the Constellation, I should point out that it exists for P3D and FSX. Check out this video:

A pretty comprehensive sim. I wish the bombers and transports in combat sims would get the same sort of treatment.

Yeah, I hesitated over including flying boats, I love them, and decided not to complicate things :-) The solent is nice but I have a soft spot for the Empire Class. Maybe just because of its connection with the golden age of flying boats and also because I used to live near Rochester as shown in the photo here. I visited the solent there as well (1987?) before it went to Ireland.

To be fair the Boeing 314 'Clipper' and Sikorsky S42 are also very pretty and symbols of the later part of that golden age.
