Excellent, thank you. Do you get to specify how many times they do this? I'm thinking of something like a tanker or an AWACs aircraft - if it is infinite that's fine!

You can put something in the break the cycle, like a radio command or trigger object, but I'm afraid I don't know how.

Google "DCS Switch waypoint" there's bound to be a video or two on the matter.

Here you go. This chap switches waypoints and puts a break in there so his plane continues on its planned path

For a tanker or an Awacs you can just give it an orbit command in the advanced waypoint action

Regarding the statement that AI only lands when told to, I built a simple mission just to do some GA practice and being new to mission creation I added a P51 500ft in the air instead of the ground. When I ran the map the P51 flew to the nearby airfield and landed.
This was the gun range so the airfield was nearby though the initial bearing of the P51 was WSW so it is not as if I forced it to fly towards the airfield. Perhaps being below a certain height and within a certain distance of a friendly airfield triggers an automatic landing when there are no other instructions. Perhaps there also has to be no WP set.
