I'm unsure how to add skins and ensure they work without breaking the integrity check system.

Is there a tutorial?

@Phil, don't worry about the details, we can easily share the load on this one and get others to figure out how to incorporate them while we concentrate on more technical issues with the server and mission.

@Jimmi, so yes, let's see if we can figure out what's needed to add new skins. (71st_AH_Rob will probably know too.)

Also, thanks for the heads up on the existing DCS skins. I've taken your list and extended it.

Also, I got in touch with =TIA=PorcoRosso86 via Steamchat last night regarding making new skins and he said "if you need I do some for you". We've other things to concentrate on first, but its good to know the option is there if we want to go beyond some initial tests.

Also, he pointed sent the link for this image:

Technically, these are the G-6, but that's what we are using the K-4 in this scenario for the LW, anyway.

Isn't it just a case of everyone downloading the skin(s) needed, then setting them in the mission editor/rearm menu?

As I've read this thread just now , this was my thought also ...though I think they do need to be made available on the server side also .... Rob did similar on this Korea server I recall.

Re: skins .... If I am flying on another server and I have my No.54 Skin available to choose, this given a welcom and encourages me to fly on that server more.

I'm a bit concerned about skins ballooning out to be honest.
We've never used or tested them before. I have no idea what effect it ill have on mission or server stability.

So, if we do this, we will start small, with just a single skin. If there are issues, we will pull the skin and review.

Sounds good and reasonable to me!

How many players can the server hold?
How many slots do you have in mind for allies/axis (balanced or unbalanced?)

Well, during the Cold War missions a while back I flew with my own 19RAF Harrier skin (selected via the rearm menu), presumably I was the only person that could see it as no one else had the skin installed, but if they had then they would have seen it.

I think the only Server side work that is needed would be if you wanted to pre-set the skins (i.e. set Italian spawns with Italian skins) which would just be a case of the mission builder selecting the skin in the editor, however it would still be on each user to download and install the skin themselves, otherwise it will appear as the default German skin (as presumably my Harrier showed the default USMC skin).

I believe that Mike is correct.

But I think we should worry more about the mechanics and nuts and bolts than the aesthetics just now.
