Good questiom.

I expect, judging from the list of folks who responded, that everyone will have no issues with creating their own flight plans and performing flight specific coordination with fellow pilots.

On the testing session the other night, I was just given the Target general location. There was no M3 waypoint or any routing provided on the cartridge (Viggen). I needed to plan my own routing, setup my own search strategy, find the ship and attack. I chose to plot a course out to sea to make my attack approach.

As you know, setting up WPs in the Viggen is simple and takes not more than a few minutes.

I personally enjoy this aspect (and of course any flight specific pre planning) and look forward to the coordination with my flight of Viggens.

This is what DCS offers and this is what it should be about.

Otherwise what's the point in my honest opinion. There is always the 'rinse and repeat' of the pubby servers.

S!

No pre-planned waypoints are provided.
The Controller may re-task a unit based on how the battle develops.
Pilots should know in advance how to use their aircraft flexibly and with effect.

Shaping up nicely! Thanks for organising this.

Harrier mates - SEAD first to clear out any radar guided nasties, then rearm and go drop the broadcast tower?

Woger!

Hopefully the F10 function is map only so route planning will have to be all the more important.

Fog of war will be on, so only units that have come within visual range of a friendly asset will show on your map.

I will be fully available for this time and date,i will fly the A10a and judging from other pilots posts will be attacking the camp close to Cherkessk?
After a couple of tests i am confident of carrying out this task providing more accurate info becomes available on types of targets to be destroyed and if their is any priority targets that must be destroyed.
The alternative is to provide support for the Hueys in their sweeps through the valleys.
I have created a Post- It Note flight plan for the occasion so can fly independent if necessary.

Looking forward to this, and many thanks for the efforts in creating it!

Good Hunting

Yep, sounds good - especially as we're the only ones with SEAD capability (I think) so the rest will be counting on us for that.

Suppose I'd better practice SAM evasion just in case.

Harrier load out

Can we sort out what load out we are taking on the Harrier

If we have solid air cover then I suggest the following
Flight of 4
Flight lead
IE. 4 sidearms (which I'm not a fan of)and 2 65e's(will we need drop tanks)&TGP
Wing man. same but carrys the ECM Pod
The same for the other element
IF air cover is not solid the we can change to some AIM-9M's

I am open to suggestions gents, or is it a personal prefrence

Also what kind of Sam's are we up against?. do we ingress low and someone does some wild weasel to see if we can spot them launching or if its SA8's we go high with LGB's

Gents; load-outs and tasking will be subject to orders on the night.

I would suggest that if you are not proficient with a wide application of your aircraft, you should:
1. Bone up between now and friday
2. bear that in mind your skill level when given your orders on Friday and let TopHAT know if you are unable to carry out orders
3. If a complete incompetent, sit this mission out and use the time for (1) above

Suffice to say,
Viggen pilots should be good at Maritime strike/ ground attack
Harrier pilots should be good at SEAD and ground attack
mirage/ F15 & F5 pilots should all be Ok with Air-to-air, escort and air superiority
A10 should be fine with ground attack
UH1H pilots OK with using FARPS, mountain flying and deploying the side MGs against troops
